History and Mission
CMAC is a non-profit, tax exempt 501 (c)(3)
organization that was founded in 1997 by a group of music enthusiasts to host Carnatic Music Concerts and South Indian Dance performances in the Greater Charlotte Area of North Carolina.
Goals
CMAC seeks to achieve four primary goals.
First,
host vocal and instrumental concerts
of top ranking Carnatic Musicians;
second,
host solo and group dance performances
(Bharatanatyam,
Kuchipudi, etc.); provide
a forum to show case local talent, and
finally,
conduct workshops for amateur music enthusiasts.
Institutional Support
Since inception, CMAC has been fortunate to have
the active collaboration and in-kind support of the Music Department of
Davidson College whether in terms of access to the finest concert
venues or the associated technical and manpower support.
